Rugby World Cup fever in Wellington!

It seems like the Rugby World Cup has been the only topic of conversation around here lately!

With Quarter-Finals coming up this weekend in Wellington between South Africa and Australia and Ireland and Wales you can bet there will be a lot of people out on the street this weekend having a good time.

But if you’re feeling unsafe when you’re out in town don’t forget that there are the Walkwise ambasadors who can walk you within a short distance of the town centre or to transport.

We’d also like to hear people’s experiences of the RWC so far – what has it been like? Good? bad? Ugly? What’s the energy like in Wellington at the moment? If your experience has made you feel unsafe or you wish to report it please don’t hesitate to contact the Police by phoning 111. The Police also have specific liason officers for the LGBT community, sex workers and ethnic communities so please do not hesitate to speak to one of those officers if you would feel more comfortable doing so (We can put you in touch if needbe).

If contacting the police is not an option, or if your experience has raised issues which you would like help with, you might find one of the other organisations who support Hollaback! helpful.

Due to legal restrictions we are unable to publish names or images of people involved in harassment as this can be considered defamation, and we also won’t include details such as race or class. Please keep this in mind when submitting your experience.
