Olivia’s Story: Lambton Quay

As I was walking along Lambton Quay last week, on my way home from law school, a man walking towards me made sure that he got close enough to brush past my shoulder before turning, pinching my ass and saying “slut” in to my ear. Following that he simply continued walking, leaving me shocked by his behaviour and his apparent right to touch me.

   Please call the police, Olivia, and give them a description of this man. It is sexual assault and he can be charged. The odds of finding him might seem slim to you, but if he’s done this to you, he’s probably doing it to other people. Two or three police reports of the same guy can galvanise the police to take action – I know it’s happened in the past.

   Also, I’m sorry this happened to you. You should be able to be safe in the city. I hope you feel better soon.
